make crew placement award and personal placement award seperate prize categories.
Allowing pimps to win both rank prize and crew placement prize. If they've worked for it, why not give it?
For some time it has been possible for crews to bring people in at the last minute just to get them hooked up with crew prizes. It has also been the case that most players in the top crew are also winning individual rank prizes.
When we established players could only win a single “rank” prize, we beefed up both the individual rank prizes as well as the crew prizes.
Instead of relying on game rules to dictate who can/cannot join a crew or what they contribute to the crew, we’ve decided to alter crew prizes the following ways:
- Only crews that have existed for a good portion of the round will qualify for crew prizes. If a crew is formed on the last day of the game and is ranked 1st, for example, the 1st place crew prizes would skip them and go to another crew.
- Only members of qualifying crews who have been in their crews for a good portion of time will qualify for crew prizes.
The focus here is to encourage people to stick with their crews without limiting how people can play the game, rewarding those that’ve stuck with it and removing any incentive to re-arrange crews at the last minute simply for a hand-out.

Think about it for a second from the player's viewpoint. You work hard all round. You finish top 10, or top 5, or win the round, thus insuring that your crew wins an alliance ranking award that you then do not get to partake in. Alliance awards are a pittance in relation to larger, more substantial ranking awards that you can win. You just feel kinda slighted when you ranked really high and don't get that extra 600, 300 or 150 credits that the rest of your crew receives all due to how well you played. Lesser ranking members of your crew then are rewarded for the work you did.
Scullbone brought up a very good point - lock the crews after a specific time so we don't see all this crew jumping mess then the probability that people will bring in players to win them crew awards is taken out of the equation.
If you won a Heisman trophy in collegiate football and then were denied your team's bowl ring - you'd feel really slighted.

i agree that you should be able to win more than one prize, regardless of category...just because someone is accomplished in more than one area doesn't mean they should be rewarded for only one? sounds like accountant management practices- only thinking about the technical effect and not the human effect....people feel as though they deserve those rank credits and alot more people jumped in the past and would jump in the future if they were able to factor in the possibility of getting their rank prize + alliance placement + award prizes because the only reason anyone jumps is for the possibility of winning back their credits (plus a few extra for other rounds and of course- prestige) but let's not forget that pw is full of people who are mathematically skilled and will realize the odds of winning back their credits are higher if they can win three prizes...i strongly recommend this become a change...i like what you've done with the awards categories but i also wish this was one of the things you left the same as before. plain and simple- people like to win. and if people win but don't get recognition or reward, they'll stop trying. although this sounds silly because yes they win rank/award prizes, that little boost of 1k or 500 or 250 credits to that rank prize is all the more fulfilling :)
